Among Pudong's five-stars, the Baohua Marriott is not the loudest. Its carpet never intended to be. ADA FLOOR designed and delivered the carpet in 2013 across 323 guestrooms, 67 serviced apartments and 1,705 m² of banquet space.
A business living room in Biyun
Opened 2013 in the Jinqiao international community: 323 guestrooms, 67 serviced apartments, 1,705 square metres of banquet space, an inventory whose main guest is the conference calendar. The interior is anchored in dark timber and warm grey stone; the carpet's brief was restraint with a name tag. Peach, blue and grey surface in rooms and corridors, loud enough to be noticed once, quiet enough never twice.

One palette, two faces of the day
A business guest wears two faces a day: the conference table and the far side of the room door. Public and corridor zones keep identity through pattern stratification; guestrooms fall back to a calm ground tone. The line from lobby to room never breaks. What changes is concentration, not language.

The banquet hall only accepts floor facts
Event traffic across 1,705 square metres folds wear and acoustics into the same specification. High-density nylon blends take the catering carts and the endless rebuilds; pile height and density were tuned to the reverberation targets of plenary-scale conferences. Conferences keep coming; the surface stays flat.

Quiet is the recognisable language
A business-hotel floor does its job by going unmentioned: across high-frequency conference and social calendars, both appearance and acoustic performance held to the original line. At this positioning, stability is worth more than surprise.

The acoustic bill under the conference calendar
A ballroom programme of 1,705 square metres shares one building with 390 keys of accommodation, and the acoustic accounts are kept separate. In the ballroom the target is speech clarity, with mid-frequency reverberation designed for 0.4 to 0.6 seconds; carpet absorbency is assessed under ASTM C423 and ISO 354, giving bare-carpet coefficients of 0.15 to 0.35 and 0.5 to 0.7 once an underlay is added. On the guest floors the concern is impact: carpet with underlay improves slab impact sound by roughly 24 to 33 decibels under ISO 10140-3 and ASTM E492.

Three lines close at sign-off
Approval runs in three rounds. An A4 sample fixes the colour direction, a one-to-one partial sample is laid in real lighting in a corridor and a room, and the third round is signed together by owner, designer and factory. Peach, blue and grey come from one yarn batch with the dye lot recorded. Ballroom density is set against repeated catering-cart traffic, with pile weight taken from the upper part of the 1,300 to 1,800 g/m² band.

Nobody mentions the floor, which is the point
Handover checks three things: whether seams lift under a foot, whether the pattern registration has drifted, and whether the gap to the skirting is even. Maintenance splits the ballroom from the rooms — deep cleaning after every major event in the hall, quarterly appearance grading in the corridors. For a business hotel the verdict is plain: after several years, guests do not write about the floor.
