Two hotels, one brand: drawings carry over, batches do not

When a brand opens twice in one region the floor scheme is highly reusable. What decides whether the two read as one hotel is whether pattern numbers and dye lots were actually managed.

Key points
When a brand opens twice in one region the floor scheme is highly reusable. What decides whether the two read as one hotel is whether pattern numbers and dye lots were actually managed.
- Reuse starts from the pattern number and yarn recipe, not a photograph.
- Productions months apart must still match one another.
- Keep the file until the next project, so a refresh never restarts.
Reuse starts with a pattern number
Copying the previous hotel from photographs is the common mistake. A photograph carries direction; what transfers is the pattern number, the yarn recipe and the specification sheet. Two Hyatt Place properties in Zhuhai were delivered in April 2021 and October 2021 at 3,325 and 3,700 square metres, both recorded as whole project. Room types and public areas are close enough for one scheme to carry, provided the first hotel's drawings were kept complete.

Dye lots are a cross-project account
Two productions months apart will show their difference when placed side by side, and the corridor is where people compare. A small shift in grey between two levels cannot be named by a guest but is still felt. The practice is to keep a dye-lot record per colour, check the file before reordering, and re-dye a full batch rather than settle for something close.

Scheduling across phases
Multi-property and multi-phase work is scheduled in reproducible batches. The sample property goes first so design approval and craft approval happen once, and later hotels order against the same document. Production leaves room for transport and on-site storage: rolls upright, off the ground, opened only as they are fitted. A lobby's principal carpet at a Nanjing resort measures 3800 by 2400 millimetres as a single piece, and a size like that has to be checked against the access route before it ships.

Keep the file until the next project
A floor scheme's real value appears years later. Four Seasons Guangzhou was carpeted in 2012 and refreshed in 2024 by adjusting colour along the original design language, leaving the material frame alone, because the drawings survived and laying tolerances and seam runs could still be checked against them. Changing systems does not cost a new design; it costs re-testing every historical condition behind the old one.
